It’s Halloween, time for so many good things. Horror movies. Scary stories. Cool random gothy items in the Dollar store. But it just wouldn’t be Halloween without the candy.
Which got me thinking about which sorts of candy the guys in PsyCop are into…
Victor Bayne
Vic likes chocolate, but is also leery of ending up with suspicious brown smears all over his shirt. Luckily, there’s a candy that solves that exact problem: M&Ms! (Melts in your mouth, not on your hands!)
“And no weird flavors, either. Plain chocolate. Or peanut, if that’s all you’ve got.”
M&Ms may not melt on your hands, but they do tend to roll away. Vic has found stray M&Ms in his coat pocket, under his car’s floor mat, and behind a phone book from 2002. He asserts each color has a slightly different taste, if only from the varying amounts of food dye in the shells.
Jacob Marks
Jacob has the willpower to stay away from chocolate, but he has a hard time passing up anything cinnamon. Big Red gum, cinnamon Altoids, and especially Hot Tamales.
“Cinnamon kisses are memorable. But definitely watch where you put your mouth otherwise. There’s such a thing as too much sensitivity.”
Crash
Crash is a fan of anything sour, though he prefers his tartness with alcohol, particularly margaritas, vodka sours, or limoncello collinses.
“But for sheer kitsch value, you’ve gotta love Sour Patch Kids. And there’s no gelatin in them, either…so even the vegans out there can indulge.”
And as for Me…
I’m on a “gums of the world” kick. So far, in addition to my native US gum, I’ve had gum from the Netherlands and England…and thanks to fellow author Chris Owen, I’ve got a nice stash of Canadian gum too. Stimorol was like chewing a cough drop…ew. Thanks, Britain. Good ol’ Trident is still my favorite.

That’s a difficult one: I’m actually not that into candy (if you don’t count chocolate ;)). So, in the spirit of Halloween, a piece of candy I do like to eat this time of year are Dracula teeth gummies (I’m from Belgium, I don’t know if you can find these in the U.S.?)

Almond joys are my favorite candy. They have that melt in your mouth yummy. With the coconut flavor that is oh so addicting to me. But just when you thing so smooth you get a surprise and there’s that crunchiness that makes it so good.!!!! Damn now I really want some candy! My kids are not going to be happy. We went truck or treating last night and I’m going to eat some of the “good” ones!

I love Reese’s peanut butter cups. I also like to put them in the freezer and eat from there. That way they are not melted and I think they taste better. I also do the same with cookies. I’m weird. 🙂

I don’t know about ordinary cookies, but brownies made with cream-cheese swirls are excellent barely thawed! (When you make a big batch, and don’t want them to spoil…)

I love just about anything chocolate. Twix and KitKats are my favorite. I love minty candy like Junior Mints. Sour candy is good too, like sour patch kids. I really love all candy. Haha!

I love things that are chewy and sweet like Skittles, Starbursts, airheads, and anything caramel, especially trader Joe’s sea salt caramels.

I am sure it is psychological but I love the Reeses in the various holiday shapes, so right now the Reeses pumpkins. I just think they taste better!

When it was available I enjoyed Sweet Marie chocolate bars. Now my go to chocolate when I’m in the mood is either Turtles or Crunchie bars.

I am not a big chocolate candy person, but I do like Skittles. I could eat a whole pack of them. That is, until I heard how bad they are for you. So now, I try to not indulge as much, but those little Halloween fun packs aren’t that bad, right? 🙂

I love Lindor chocolate! Unfortunately so do my grandkids. I have lost count of the number of times I went for a piece from my secret stash to find nothing but empty wrappers!

I’m a huge fan of candy of all kinds (especially chocolate and caramel) and I’ve been trying to resist it lately. But I did give into temptation and ate a whole bag of Autumn Mix Candy Corn this month. It reminds me of my childhood.

It’s a toss-up between Skittles and Tootsie Roll Fruit Rolls. I love the sweet/sour combo. If forced to choose, I’d go for Skittles. But I’d never eat one off some weird guy’s face.

Theo Coconut Bites Classic is my favorite candy: this sweetly tropical and chewy coconut enrobed in rich dark chocolate is vegan, non-GMO, organic, and soy free. Theo Chocolate factory is local (Seattle).
IMO, Mounds bars don’t compare.

Stimerol. *gag* I’m a chocolate fan. Particularly Coffee Crisp but those seem to be a Canadian thing. Next is Kit Kat.
I love cinnamon hearts in February and tell Vic to try M&Ms with caramel. My new love.

I have different favourites at different times, and often I prefer simply extremely dark chocolates (80-90% cocoa), but among candy, I love Toffifee very much. And of course there’s no parallel to Lindt chocolates/balls. 🙂

I love candy and chocolate. However I only like milk chocolate. I’m a big fan of kit Kats and Snickers. Skittles are my go- to when I can’t decide on what I want. I also love the Hershey’s nuggets with almonds. I just love sweets in general

Hey, gums of the world is pretty interesting. I gave all my nieces and nephews hand prepared bags of candy from around the world one Christmas. After a while creativity and things that prompt discussions are far more interesting gifts.

I love Ghiardelli Dark Chocolate squares with nuts. I get my sinfully delicious dark chocolate with that crunch to make it interesting.
